This is obviously new to me. Greyed icons mean that those services aren't accesible from external servers or that those gateways can't be used by users from another servers. This seems to show that it isn't a server problem, but I won't rule that out yet. To reproduce, start a group chat and paste a control character into the message box and send it. I can't reproduce this because every server I've tried disconnects me as soon as I attempt to send a control character.

Disconnecting cleanly is a much better solution than being in an inconsistent internal state which causes message loss. I can't reproduce this because every server I've tried disconnects me as soon as I openfiree to send a control character.
If that had been the case, I would probably not have come across this bug as everyone in my group uses libpurple-based clients.
In fact, I wasn't aware I had a Let's Encrypt authority sitting around in the first place. After I send a control character openfrie the chat room, I am still unable to see any messages, although I can see them in the Send and Recv debug messages.
We handle the error 9 invalid character I'm assuming the root cause is indicated by the first error message indicating a NullPointerException. Not only for Mac users! After taking the precaution of just restarting the machine for a fresh start, I still couldn't 3.6.0. Browse the Latest Snapshot. I also agree that Openfire should not convert them and pass them on.
IMO it would be better if pidgin displayed them, after all UTF8 allows to see them, but losing some messages is better than not being able to login at all. I would prefer the characters be ignored rather than dropping the connection for 3.6.0 simple reason that it's annoying to have the reconnect issues when something goes wrong. Is plugin the only way when I want to extended function?
